What You’ll Need:
- French Press
- Hot water just off the boil
- Grinder
- Spoon
- Swing’s Coffee (Blend or Single Origin)
- Scale
- Timer
- Cup
French Press is a classic, easy method to brew one to several cups of your favorite Swing's coffee. It takes about 4 minutes and works best with heavy-bodied coffees such as our G Street blend.
- Warm up the empty press by filling with hot water. Maintaining a warm temp before and during brewing helps create a consistent extraction.
- Measure out 56g (8 tbsp) of coarsely ground coffee if using an 8-cup French Press.
- Dump out the hot water and add coffee to the empty press. Begin timer while simultaneously pouring hot water into the press, filling it up to the top with enough room to place the lid without overflowing. Make sure all the grounds are saturated with no dry areas.
- At one minute, use a spoon to break the floating layer of grounds, also known as the crust, and stir gently.
- Once stirred, fill the French Press to the top with the remaining hot water. Place lid on top without pressing the coffee down.
- At four minutes, slowly but firmly press down until the grounds are all the way at the bottom of the brewer.
- It's ready to serve! Pour your freshly brewed coffee into a carafe or mug and enjoy immediately.
